Retro gaming brand, My Arcade has secured the rights of release of a new range of table-top arcade machines and handhelds based on Bandai Namco’s heritage titles.The initial line-up will feature gaming’s first icon Pac-Man among other classics such as Galaga and Dig Dug. The Micro Player arcades will feature artwork inspired by the original cabinets, large full-coloured screens, backlit coin traps plus a removable joystick for those who prefer to use a directional pad to play. The series that is still in production for its first season will focus on colourful adventures featuring seven 9-year old girls who serve as the planet’s first responders. Furthering Nick’s move into eSports programming for kids, a new 60 x one-hour scripted gaming series from Barcelona, Spain-based multimedia communications group Mediapro entitled NOOBees has been asked for by Nickelodeon LatAm. The order was announced at this year’s National Association of Television Executives (NATPE) conference in Miami Beach Created by Enrique Pérez of Mediapro’s production company 100Balas, the series follows a young basketball-obsessed girl named Silvia who forms an eSports team (the NOOBees) with her friends and becomes a professional gamer. Three artists from Rising Sun Pictures have been nominated for a Visual Effects Society (VES) Award for their work in Marvel Studios’ summer blockbuster Thor: Ragnarok. They are CG supervisor Hubert Maston, lighting technical director Arthur Moody, On-set VFX/Concept/Pre-vis Adam Paschke and Virtual Production supervisor Casey Schatz. They have been nominated for Best Virtual Cinematography for the film’s “Val’s Flashback” sequence. The Ibero-American Animation Quirino Awards has announced its nominated works in the nine categories of its first edition that will take place on April 7th in the island of Tenerife (Spain). The announcement was made last morning at Ochoymedio and during Andean Call, event of andean animation projects’ development that takes place in the city of Quito between the 15th and the 19th of this month.
