As on today, viewership of educational children’s series PinCode, that started beaming on China Central Television (CCTV) from March 1 this year, has reached a total of 24 million. So much so, it has qualified for a second round of broadcasting on CCTV Kids later this year. According to CCTV Kids, PinCode‘s average rating and market share beats comparative content. Kids content producer Cottonwood Media and kids net Gulli have announced the extension of their partnership and have taken Squish to Russia and Africa. As a result of this, Gulli Girl and Gulli Africa will join their French counterpart in broadcasting the animated comedy about the secret life of Amoebas. Aimed at kids between 6 and 11 year olds, Squish is an animated comedy that features the genuinely original world of an Amoeba looking to survive life in the cutthroat world of single cell organisms…not to mention school! In a tie up with Steven Music, Cartoon Network has announced that a music album of the music company is on the cards. It will feature the show's theme song as well as songs from the 120 episodes that have been telecast as yet. The Emmy-nominated cartoon has featured guest appearances from musicians over the years including Nicki Minaj and Aimee Mann. “I am so excited about this album that I hardly have the words,” the show’s creator Rebecca Sugar said in a statement. “We poured our hearts into these songs and now they’re finally collected and stunningly re-mastered by our composers Aivi & Surrasshu, she added.” The new album will be available for purchase in digital music stores, as well as on all major streaming platforms, June 2nd.

Following last year’s debut on Disney XD channels in the US, Latin America, South East Asia and Taiwan, DHX Media’s Fangbone! has acquired nine new broadcasting deals. Aimed at children between eight- to 12-year-olds, the show is based on a book series by author Michael Rex. It follows a young barbarian from Skullbania as he travels through a magical portal to the suburbs of the modern world. The around an hour long animated series is heading to ABC ME (Australia), CITV (the UK), Gulli & Canal J(France), Discovery (Italy), MBC3 (the Middle East), Ultra (former Yugoslavia), Zoom (Israel) and Canal Panda (Portugal). Sony Pictures Television Networks will shortly unveil its first Italian free-to-air kids channel Pop Targeting boys and girls from ages six to nine, Pop Italy will be launched on May 4. Following SPTN’s acquisition from Television Broadcasting System, the channel is a rebrand of Neko TV (LCN 45) and will broadcast exclusive first-run comedies and action-based shows including Kuu Kuu Harajuku, Wild Kratts and The Insectibles. New originals are also planned for the Italian Pop as Sony will be working with local production companies. Starting this May, Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, an international producer and distributor of children’s animated and live-action content, in a pact with Discovery Kids has decided to bring 26 hilarious episodes of its hit animated series The ZhuZhus to kids and families throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. In a deal of sorts, Paris-based indie distributor Superights has sold mobile game-based TV series Pat the Dog to Disney channel in the US. The toon follows the adventures of a young girl and her best canine friend, Pat. Acquired by ABC Cable Networks Group, the nearly one and a half hour CGI comedy for kids aged between five- to eight-year will debut on Disney Channel this summer. The series is based on the international smartphone game sensation Paf le Chien (Space Dog) that has more than 27 million global users. Pat the Dog has been produced by Superights’ parent company Superprod along with French studio Vanilla Seed and Italy’s Animoka. Yesterday, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) dedicated the whole of Sunday evening to a primetime programme of screenings and interviews on animated short films produced by the National Film Board of Canada. SVT acquires slate of content from BBC Worldwide

Swedish national public broadcaster SVT has acquired a slew of content from BBC Worldwide that includes 140 episodes of children’s shows. The kids fare covered in the deal includes The Bagel and Becky Show and Sarah & Duck. Besides, the SVT-BBCWW agreement covers premium dramas like Top of the Lake: China Girl and Paula and more than 80 hours of factual content. Aimed at kids between six- to 11-year olds, The Bagel and Becky Show has been produced by Boat Rocker Media-owned prodco Radical Sheep Productions.
