DHX Media has lapped up a large-number of global content deal with Amazon Prime Video for 13 DHX kids’ shows. This agreement follows a recent deal between the two companies that grant Amazon exclusive SVOD and AVOD rights to the animated kids’ sci-fi comedy Looped in the US, as well as other pick-ups for kids’ content in the UK, Germany and India.  Covering more than 200 countries and territories with content to be offered in 15 languages, the agreement marks the largest between the two companies to-date. New titles coming to the international SVOD under the deal include animated favourites Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, Caillou, Johnny Test and the classic Inspector Gadget. As part of its long-anticipated restructuring and reallocation of resources at the Walt Disney Company’s non-sports broadcast and cable television arm, Disney/ABC Television Group has begun laying off employees. It is heard that the company has begun notifying affected employees last Thursday morning. The volume of employees impacted is said to be significantly lower than the 10% workforce cut that had been speculated when news broke of the layoff plan six weeks ago. Cuts are impacting all the group’s entertainment units, including ABC Entertainment  ABC Studios, Disney Channel, DisneyXD, Disney Junior, and Freeform but the impact is expected to be minimal on production and programming. London-based Zodiak Kids has acquired TV distribution rights of Plug-in Media’s new 2D-animated CBeebies series Tee & Mo. CBeebies and Canadian nets TVO and Knowledge recently commissioned the new series from UK-based digital media production company Plug-in Media for broadcast in 2018. Following the daily adventures of a three-year-old monkey and its first-time mom, the series is produced in collaboration with Canada’s Radical Sheep Productions (a division of Boat Rocker Studios).
