Genius Brands International has appointed APC Kids as in charge of the content distribution of their new pre-school series Rainbow Rangers covering the EMEA region including Russia and ex-CIS countries. Beginning yesterday, Disney Channel has launched a new interactive programming event for its popular series Andi Mack. The DisneyNOW app will offer games, polls and trivia simultaneously as the episode airs at 8 p.m. EST/PST. The Andi Mack Live Play section of the DisneyNOW app will feature leader boards and poll results from the various activities shown in real time for both US east and west coast transmissions. With an all new original content, Sanrio continues to bolster its own library probably as a reaction to the noticeable increase of VOD providers these past few years and most importantly Walt Disney’s plans to launch its own streaming service. Sony Pictures Television Networks UK has acquired hit animated series’ Splash and Bubbles, Dot. and season two of Doozers from the Jim Henson Company for its free-to-air Tiny Pop channel. The deals come merely two days after Channel 5 head of children’s Sarah Muller was named kids boss by SPTN to lead its linear and AVOD kids brands including POP, Tiny Pop, POP MAX and recently launched AVOD service POP FUN. American broadcaster Discovery Communications has partnered with video streaming platform Netflix for Discovery JEET, its general entertainment TV channel that goes live on 12 February.
