Gaming Bafta nominations are in, but which title is up for a staggering TEN gongs?

BAFTA will dish out its top games awards on March 12th, and there's one game that looks certain to be a winner.  BRUTAL zombie-style action game The Last Of Us has been nominated for a whopping ten gaming Bafta awards. The mega hit Playstation 3 thriller has wowed fans since its release last Autumn. It scored ten-out-of-tens across the board with critics who dubbed it the "perfect swan song" for the console as next-gen machines kick-in. (more…)

Sid Caesar, Comic Genius of 1950s TV, Dies

LOS ANGELES: Sid Caesar, the prodigiously talented pioneer of TV comedy who paired with Imogene Coca in sketches that became classics and who inspired a generation of famous writers, died Wednesday. He was 91. Family spokesman Eddy Friedfeld said Caesar, who also played Coach Calhoun in the 1978 movie "Grease," died at his home in the Los Angeles area after a brief illness. (more…)

Taipei comics festival draws over 400,000 visitors

Visitors flock to buy comics and products during the Taipei International Comics and Animation Festival.   The Taipei International Comics and Animation Festival closed on Saturday after drawing a higher attendance and posting stronger sales than last year. The show attracted 409,000 visitors and generated around NT$180 million (US$5.9 million) in revenues over its four days, up from last year's NT$130 million (US$4.3 million), according to the show's organizer, the Taipei-based Chinese Animation and Comic Publishers Association. Merchandise, gaming section draw crowd at Comic Con

Quirky and colourful boxers, t-shirts and shorts with various cartoon characters, and a big gaming enclosure with Play Station Portables (PSPs) and 3D games attracted a large audience on the inaugural day of Comic Con India here Friday. Given the large space the gaming zone had, enthusiasts were engrossed in their games, as four screens for 3D games and five LCD monitors for PSP stations were occupied, and many were waiting for their turn. Sledgehammer Games to develop the next Call Of Duty

The next Call of Duty game, confirmed for later this year, will be developed by Sledgehammer Games. The developer joins Treyarch and Infinity Ward in what is now to be a three year development cycle for COD games. The news came as part of Activision’s investor call, and it marks what is arguably the biggest behind-the-scenes shift in the Call of Duty franchise to date – with the exception of Infinity Ward losing multiple members of its studio, including its founders, following a nasty legal dispute with Activision. Ever since the release of Call of Duty 2, Infinity Ward and Treyarch have been alternating development on the series’ main releases, with each studio taking two years to develop its game, thus ensuring that a new Call of Duty title can hit shelves each year. Ken Kutaragi to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at GDC 2014

 The 14th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards will honor Ken Kutaragi -- former CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment and the "Father of the PlayStation" -- with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the world of gaming. The Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony takes place on Wednesday, March 19 at 6:30pm at the Moscone Convention Center during the 2014 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, and will be streamed online and open to all GDC passholders.
