Who can forget James Cameron’s epic animation drama Avatar? Seeing the film, viewers raved about it and thus gave it a long run. Released in 2009, the film still tops the chart in the list of highest grossing movies worldwide with a box office collection of $2.78 billion. Now, the film is returning with four sequels, the dates of which have been revealed.The first sequel, Avatar 2 will open after three years on 18 December, 2020 followed by Avatar 3 on 17 December, 2021. Then, after a three year break, Avatar 4 will come out on 20 December, 2024 while the last part will release on 19 December, 2025. Canadian Animation studio Squeeze has shopped its shortform animated series Cracké to Viacom18 in India, which will put it out on the local Nickelodeon channel and the Voot streaming service. The deal brings the show’s reach to 185 countries, and follows a recent launch in EMEA. Disney’s two upcoming theme park worlds, Star Wars Land and Pandora — The World of Avatar, will open in 2019 and May 2017, respectively, the company announced today. Disney’s CEO Bob Iger confirmed during an investors call that Pandora — The World of Avatar will open in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Star Wars Land will open in both Disney World and Disneyland in 2019, but there is no opening date at this time. Disney first announced that it was adding the Avatar-themed addition to the park in 2011. The park is based on the fictional moon in Avatar, called Pandora, and will include the alien lifeforms from the movie, along with bioluminescent plants and floating mountains. Fresh off from buying a majority stake in Germany’s m4e, Belgium-based Studio 100 has sold its CGI animated series Nils Holgersson to Discovery Kids India. Discovery has picked up exclusive TV rights to the 52 x 13-minute toon for India, Bangaldesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Currently in production, the show is based on the book The Wonderful Adventures of Nils by Selma Lagerlof, the first female writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. Discovery Kids is also home to Studio 100′s most well-known production, Maya the Bee.
