Entertainment One has started the production of a new season of the hit animated pre-school series Peppa Pig. The production is being handled by award-winning studio Astley Baker Davies. The Peppa Pig brand’s popularity dominates even outside of TV as the Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience movie fared impressively well at the box office in the UK last April. On the other hand, toy sales of the brand have gone up 12% year-to-date in the same region. The property now boasts of 87 licensees in the UK adding toy partner Character Options as it gets ready to launch its new product  namely Peppa’s Family Home on July 2017. Looks like Disney and Netflix are going to part ways sooner or later. With Disney moving close to have its own over-the-top (OTT) streaming service, it won't need Netflix forever, it is understood. German distribution and production company Studio 100 Media has closed an agreement with AMC Networks International – Central Europe (AMCNI CE), which will be bringing Studio 100 Media’s CGI series Nils Holgersson and The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill to various territories across Eastern Europe such as Hungary, Romania, Moldova, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ex-Yugoslavia including Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Croatia, and Slovenia. As it continues to expand its Chuck Chicken property, Malaysian production house Animasia Studio has entered into key partnerships with three Chinese companies. Guangzhou-based company TangChao Animation Technology Co. will serve as Animasia’s merchandising partner. The company is investing in the manufacture of more than 200 types of Chuck Chicken-branded toys and merchandise. Meanwhile, Leader Reputation Network Technology is developing a range of mobile content and games for China and regional distribution. Animasia Studio has also partnered with the VOD platform iQIYI, which is investing in and distributing Chuck Chicken mobile games in China. Veteran French producer Millimages has secured a number of deals for its best-selling titles that will bring them to audiences across Asia. Said group commercial director Grace Lee, “Asia is a proven market and we are very happy for the great performance of our programs. I am positive that the market will get bigger and bigger with extension of the digital market.” Numerous pubcasters have hopped on the non-dialogue short series Molang following its pan-regional acquisition by Disney Asia including EBS (Korea), TVB (Hong Kong), PBS (Thailand), OKTO (Singapore) and c (Singapore). Interestingly, Disney India has also picked up the 2017 International Kids Emmy-nominated series having already committed to another non-dialogue short format from Millimages: Kung Fu Bunny.
