The potential takeover bid which would see Hasbro’s My Little Pony and Transformers brands join forces with Mattel’s Barbie and Hot Wheels toys was first reported on November 10. If reports are true, Hasbro has made a bid to take over its main rival Mattel in a deal that would bring together two of the world’s biggest toy manufacturers. The news comes on the heels of the bankruptcy of Toys ‘R’ Us as the industry struggles with both online competition and dwindling demand for traditional toys. Thanks to licensing deals with Disney along with their film franchises at Paramount Pictures like Transformers and G.I. Joe, Hasbro has leveraged a Hollywood presence and turned it into fuel for toy sales which has succeeded.Their total value stands at $11.4 billion which is more than twice that of Mattel at $4.8 billion. The Wall Street Journal broke the news about the talks and the two companies have issued responses saying they do not comment on rumors or speculation.
Pokemon fans in North America who got their hands on a copy of Sun or Moon will get a chance to own the Pokemon Marshadow, which is a mythical fighting/ghost type. All they need to do is visit the nearest Gamestop because the stores are offering up codes for digital distribution between now and October 23. Marshadow was orignally opened to public on April 7, this year and currently holds the dubious honour of being he last Pokemon in both the Alola and National Pokedex. The codes that come from Gamestop will have a Marshadow equipped with its own Z-Crystal and a Marshadium Z that allows use of its signature 7-Star Strike Z-Move.

Operating losses for the period ending April 29 were US$54 million, an increase of US$47 million compared to the same in Q1 2016. Domestic net sales for TRU’s Baby category were down 2 per cent over that of last year, while the Core Toy category grew by 1.4 per cent.
