Deer Little Forest & Kennedy Publishing get in GET BUSY Kids Magazine

DLF Logo4Deer Little Forest and Kennedy Publishing have entered an agreement to publish activity pages within their Get Busy and Busy Time magazines, signalling DLF’s first foray into magazine publishing in the UK.

Deer Little Forest activity pages will initially appear in the March, May, June and July 2015 issues, with other dates still to be determined. Established in 2005 Kennedy Publishing have a portfolio of eleven magazines such as Pink, Cute, Angelina Ballerina, Roary the Racing Car, and Love From.

Get Busy and Busy Time magazines are designed for pre-school and primary aged children, and are distributed nationally throughout the UK and ROI, across a broad range of top-tier retailers such as Asda, Tesco, WH Smith and Sainsburys.

Clare Twomey, Editorial & Creative Manager of Kennedy Publishing, commented, “With imagination, teamwork and friendship at the heart of these beautifully illustrated tales, we knew instantly that Deer Little Forest would be a welcome addition to our pre-school activity magazines. We’re confident that the adventures of Forest Flo and her friends will captivate our young readers and are really looking forward to supporting the brand as it develops.”

Deer Little Forest is the one of the few properties without significant retail presence or a TV series to be featured in Busy Time or Get Busy, attesting to its unique design and compelling appeal. The new deal comes on the heels of a major TV Development agreement with King Rollo Films, the iconic animation studio behind international hit series Maisy, Poppy Cat and Humf, among others.

Jo Rose, Creator of Deer Little Forest, adds, “I am absolutely delighted that kids in the UK will finally be able to meet my characters – and that the wonderful team at Kennedy will be the ones making that introduction. It is also a thrill that Deer Little Forest pages will be sitting alongside some of the best preschool characters around!”

Deer Little Forest is a preschool property created by Henries’ Award-nominated illustrator Jo Rose, featuring the irrepressibly enthusiastic Forest Flo and her band furry (and slimy!) friends: Bohdi the father-figure, star-laden bear; Rowan the philosophical fox; Fennel and Fig, two frogs often found doing a jig….and many more charming characters inhabit the truly magical Deer Little Forest.

In addition to the publishing and TV development deals, DLF has signed a variety of greeting card, licensing and agency deals, both in the UK and abroad. A first picture book has been completed and a second is on its way.
