Disney’s animated 1941 classic Dumbo gets a live-action makeover in the new trailer and poster for director Tim Burton’s retelling. The titular flying elephant is joined by several of Burton’s longtime collaborators in the film such as Michael Keaton, Eva Green, and Danny DeVito among them), as well as newcomers like Colin Farrell.
Check out the new trailer here:
The reimagined story will follow a former circus star, played by Colin Farrell, who returns to the big tent after coming home from war. He finds work with a struggling circus and is put in charge of a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him the laughing stock of the show. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.
Along with the trailer, Disney released this new poster, which is slightly less soul-crushing than the trailer.
Written by Ehren Kruger, “Dumbo” stars Colin Farrell, Nico Parker, Finley Hobbins, Eva Green, Danny DeVito, and Michael Keaton.
Dumbo is one of many live-action reboots of classic Disney animated films that will be coming to theaters in 2019. Right after Dumbo premiers in March, the live-action Aladdin is on its heels in May, followed by July’s The Lion King.
The large-eared elephant flies into theaters on March 29, 2019.
