Licensing agency WDR Mediagroup has been named to represent Peppa Pig in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The company will oversee the expansion of the Peppa Pig licensing program in the region, where the brand is already established, airing on WDR and KiKA. In a further agreement, WDR has picked up the broadcast rights to seasons five and six and also renewed the first two seasons.
Master toy partner Big on Toy Innovation released their Peppa Pig toy line in March this year. New licensing agreements have also been signed with Ravensburger for puzzles, games and activity books; V-Tech for electronic learning; and Simba for construction blocks, bringing the total number of Peppa German licensees to 20. Product is expected to roll out beginning in spring 2015.
“We are delighted to be partnering with WDRmg and are confident that their extensive experience in developing licensing programs for leading children’s brands will be invaluable to growing the presence of Peppa in these key territories,” says Andrew Carley, head of global licensing, eOne. “We have a strong broadcast partner in KiKA which is fueling demand for licensed merchandise, and we look forward to working closely with WDRmg in making quality merchandise available to Peppa Pig fans throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland.”
