Fox all set to develop a ‘Simpsons Movie’ sequel: Reports


After Disney and Fox merger, Fox is developing a sequel to The Simpsons Movie, a Bob’s Burgers film, and an animation/live-action Family Guy film.

During the 10th anniversary of The Simpsons Movie, writer-producer Al Jean and director David Silverman hinted at a follow-up movie which was in the nascent stage. Silverman mentioned that he would love to do another movie featuring the beloved Springfield residents.

“The film studio is partnering with the Fox Television studio on a big-screen adaptation of the animated series “Bob’s Burgers,” a second “Simpsons” movie in development and a “Family Guy” film that would mix animation with live action, said people with knowledge of the projects,” WSJ explained.


The Simpsons Movie was released in 2007 and grossed over USD 527 million worldwide. The film set the record for the highest grossing film based on a TV series at the time. It was also the third-highest grossing opening weekend for an animated film.

Family Guy’s 17th season and will also be premiering on September 30, 2018, and will feature Donald Trump, spoof Stranger Things, and pay tribute to the late Adam West.

While the Simpsons movie and Family Guy film have yet to be unannounced, the Bob’s Burgers film is set to hit the theatres in 2020.
