BAFTA will dish out its top games awards on March 12th, and there’s one game that looks certain to be a winner.
The mega hit Playstation 3 thriller has wowed fans since its release last Autumn.
It scored ten-out-of-tens across the board with critics who dubbed it the “perfect swan song” for the console as next-gen machines kick-in.
The game features a blood-drenched world where people have been turned into zombie-like monsters.
You play Joel, a survivor tasked with getting little girl Ellie across America safely in the hope she might hold the key to beating the mutant virus gripping the nation.
The Last Of Us has been nominated for best action and adventure game, best game overall, best music and best story among others.
Up against the game is Grand Theft Auto 5. The open world guns and gangsters epic is on course to become the biggest selling game of all time.
In it you play three wildly different crooks who come together for a series of big money heists. It has been nominated for nine awards by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. They include best game, audio achievement, best multiplayer game and best story.
Other top sellers over the last year that have been nominated include stealth actioner Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, shoot-em-up Bioshock Infinite and platformer Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U which all got four nods each.
A total of 43 games have been recognised across 17 categories.
The British Academy Games Awards take place on March 12 at the Tobacco Dock, London, and will be hosted for the sixth consecutive year by comedian and gamer Dara OBriain.
