Spain-based Imira Entertainment has signed a Latin American sales distribution deal with Disney XD for Larva. The short-format animated series is produced by South Korea’s TUBA n and airs on Korean public broadcaster KBS.
The agreement with the said channel covers all four seasons of the animated comedy.
The series follows the adventures of two worms named Red and Yellow.
Since its launch in 2012, the toon has aired in more than 150 countries.
Earlier this year, TUBA had tapped DHX Media-owned WildBrain to globally manage the Larva TUBA channel on YouTube. The multi-platform kids network exclusively helms the channel providing content production services as well as audience development expertise.
Off-screen, the IP has inspired more than 1,000 SKUs of consumer products by 100-plus licensees, mostly in Asia. The brand is looking to debut merch in both North America and Latin America in 2018.
A 90-minute feature film–Larva The Movie–is currently in production and is set to be released worldwide in 2019.
In another development, Imira Entertainment has sold Larva to Nickelodeon. The channel has taken the first season of Larva for pay TV broadcast in Spain, Portugal and South Africa.
A second season of the 3D CGI series that is currently under production will be available later this spring.
