In what could be termed as good news for GOT fans, HBO has released the first footage of Game of Thrones’ final season hinting out at some major character developments.

HBO dropped the little teaser as a part of a broader clip promoting the network’s 2019 line-up including Big Little Lies, True Detective, The Deuce, The Shop, Camping, Room 104, My Brilliant Friend, Barry etc.

The new footage buried amid a lot of shots of season 7 — including a clip of Gendry swinging an axe, Daenarys and Tyrion having a pensive moment, and some dragon fire and a shot of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) embracing Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) at their family home of Winterfell.

A premiere date has yet to be announced, but the series will return in 2019. The show will feature six episodes, which are reported to each be feature-length.

The teaser also features old footage from previous seasons, including Jon and Daenerys’ first meeting with Cersei Lannister, who currently rules the Iron Throne.

Game of Thrones is one of the most successful television series of all time and has broken records for US cable network HBO. A prequel to the series, Age of Heroes, is already in production.
