While the Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 is going to hit the theatre screens on November 29 this year, Lyca Productions have shared yet another making video that documents the judicious use of VFX. Check it out here:
The yet-to-be-released Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar’s film 2.0 is one of the first India movies to be shot in 3D.
At USD 75 million which is roughly Rs 543 crore, 2.0 is costlier than several Hollywood blockbusters like Deadpool, The Nun, Conjuring, X-Men etc.
However, there is a common equation in 2.0 and Hollywood biggies such as Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2, Black Panthers, Ant-Man and The Wasp and even the upcoming Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. According to the director Shankar, the international VFX company Double Negative which has done VFX for Marvel films is also responsible for making the Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth starrer a visual treat.
This would be the second time that two films of Rajinikanth will be releasing in the same year. Earlier this year, Kaala had hit the theatres.
2.0 is a sequel of 2010 film ‘Enthiran’ (released in Hindi as ‘Robot’), starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles.
The movie 2.0 has been written and directed by S Shankar and is supposed to be the first Indian film to have been shot in the 3D format directly, and is touted as the most expensive movie ever made in Indian cinema history.
The film, which was initially scheduled to release during Diwali 2017, had seen a delay of almost a year, owing to the work involved in VFX and special effects.
A grand music launch for the film, which has songs composed by A. R Rahman, was held in Dubai last October.
2.0 stars Amy Jackson, Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth in pivotal roles.
