Mrs Brown’s Boys Now in Cartoon

An Animated version of Mrs.Brown’s Boy’s is expected to enter the production in summer

Mrs Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowan has confirmed that the show will be made into a cartoon later this year.

The animated version of the RTÉ One/BBC One sitcom is expected to enter production in the summer.

The full cast will record their lines for the show in front a live audience, once the Mrs Brown’s Boys film is released in June.

Cowan told the Irish Daily Star: “It will be a mix of storylines we’ve seen on the main shows, as well as a few other things thrown in to make them different.

“The logic is that it can be sent to all English-speaking countries, and dubbed so it can be used across the world.”

Cowan – who plays Mrs Brown’s son, Rory – added: “Everything we’ve ever done has a live audience except for the movie. It makes the process enjoyable and it gives us instant feedback.”

It has yet to be confirmed whether the live aspect of the cartoon version will be recorded in London or the show’s home town of Dublin.

Powerhouse Animation previously made the pilot episode back in 2012, and also created the titles of the original series.

As for a release date, Cowan said: “The earliest we’ll see it is in 2015. Recording the voices is the first part – the animation is what will take a long time.”
