Nominations of animated categories of Emmy awards out


The 69th annual Emmy Awards would be presented on 17th September by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Besides that of the main categories, the nominations for the animation category has also been declared.

In the  category, four of the five recognized shows that were also nominated in 2015 and 2016 are Archer, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons and South Park.

The only new contender in the category is the special Sofia the First episode “Elena and the Secret of Avalor.”

With two first-time nominees, the short-form animated category offers a few more surprises this year like Warner Bros. Animation’s Teen Titans Go! and Marvel Animation and Passion Animation Studios’ Rocket & Groot mini-series.

They will join three other shows that have received prior nominations. They are Adventure Time, Disney Mickey Mouse and Steve Universe.

Besides these nominees, Lucasfilm Animation’s Star Wars Rebels which airs on Disney XD, scored a nomination in the children’s program category, where all the other nominees were live-action projects.
