Japanese animation studio OLM Inc. has recently opened a studio in Malaysia.
OLM is known for being behind numerous popular TV hits like Pokemon, Berserk, Inazuma Eleven, Yo-Kai Watch and Beyblade Burst.
The new Malaysian studio will aim to take advantage of top quality local talent as well as meet the burgeoning demand for creative work in Malaysia.
The studio is scheduled to open in April at science park Cyberjaya, which is situated in the Multimedia Super Corridor, the Malaysian equivalent of Silicon Valley.
“Through our study, we’ve found Malaysia’s art education level ranked top among Southeast Asian countries,” OLM’s director of Asia business Hidehiko Kitajima had said this at Kuala Lumpur’s big Comic Fiesta con last December.
Kitajima had also stated that the Cyberjaya studio will serve as a stepping stone for many digital painters and animation artists via an internship programme that will help train local students in the distinct Japanese animation style.
