The Pokémon Company International has signed a major new partnership with SUPER RTL, Germany’s leading children’s channel.
SUPER RTL has acquired multiple seasons and movies from Pokémon’s programming portfolio based on the globally popular entertainment franchise. Pokémon animation will launch on the channel in December; significantly increasing the reach and availability of Pokémon animation in Germany.
In addition, deals have also been concluded with Pop Italy; CMORE for the Nordics; Neox and Atresplayer in Spain; and with RTL7 BOZ and related SVOD, Videoland, in the Netherlands.
These latest deals round off a busy year that has seen Pokémon animated content find several new homes throughout Europe since January. In the UK, Series 18 has just launched on Pop/Pop Max, with Series 19 due in October.
Emily Arons, Senior VP International Business at The Pokémon Company International, said: “We are delighted to team up with leading broadcaster Super RTL to bring the wonderful world of Pokémon animation to such a big audience in Germany. This and our other deals this year are a testament to Pokémon’s broad appeal and provide more fans across Europe with even more ways to watch animation across the long lineage of Pokémon content.”
Additionally, Sky subscribers can now access content from Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl on demand on various Sky platforms and via the Sky Kids app.
Furthermore, Pokémon animation is now available on Amazon Prime Video in 134 territories.
Pokémon animation is broadcast in more than 160 countries in more than 30 languages. The series follows Ash, Pikachu, and friends and spans more than 1000 episodes across 21 seasons.
In addition, the highly anticipated Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us, begins a limited theatrical run in select territories on November 24 and sees Ash and Pikachu rescue a seaside town from a series of threatening events.
