Incredibles 2 is going strong as it has remained unaffected by big releases such as Race 3 and Sanju in India. Incredibles 2 hit 1,000 screens in India on June 22.

Filmmakers let their creativity fly high by bringing a number of animated films to the big screen this year. With the help of computer animation, cartoons and animation are better than ever—and they’re not just for kids anymore.

Whether it be sequels to successful franchises such as Incredibles 2, and Hotel Transylvania 3 or anticipated adaptations of beloved stories such as Peter Rabbit, Captain Underpants, the big screen is ready to get animated.

Here are some of the best animated movies of 2018:

Incredibles 2:

Incredibles 2 hit 1,000 screens in India on June 22 and earned Rs 3.85 crore on opening day. The sequel again deals with the Parr family attempting balance having a normal life with their superhero powers.


Released after 14 years, the film’s sequel is the highest-grossing animated film of all time, beating out Finding Dory and Shrek 2, which are placed 13th and 18th on the list respectively.

Isle of Dogs

Set in a dystopian near-future Japan, the film follows a group of dogs who helps a young boy searching for his dog after the whole species is banished to an island after a canine-flu outbreak.


After wowing audiences worldwide, Wes Anderson’s latest masterpiece released on July 6 in India by Fox Star Studios via speciality distribution company Runaway-Luminosity.

Hanuman vs Mahiravana:

The much-awaited mythological animation movie — Hanuman vs Mahiravana – an untold story from Ramayana hit the theatres on July 6.


The film showcases the story of Lord Hanuman and his attempts to free Ram and Lakshman from the clutches of Mahiravana, the ruler of the underworld. The trailer promises an animated adventure with plenty of action and of course, everyone’s favourite characters from Ramayana.

The film is produced by Green Gold Animation’s Samir Jain, Rajiv Chilaka, and Srinivas Chilkalpudi, and created by Gamaya Inc.

Hotel Transylvania 3:

Dracula and his gang of merry monsters head out on a cruise to intermittent enjoyment in Hotel Transylvania 3.

Summer Vacation opens with a prologue detailing the age-old battle between Drac and famed monster hunter Abraham Van Helsing (Jim Gaffigan).


Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation is slated to be out on July 13, and on July 20 in India.

Christopher Robin:

Christopher Robin is an upcoming American fantasy comedy-drama film directed by Marc Forster and written by Alex Ross Perry and Allison Schroeder. The film is inspired by A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard’s book Winnie-the-Pooh.


Christopher Robin is scheduled to be released on August 3, 2018, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures in the United States. The movie is slated to hit Indian cinemas on 10 August 2018.

Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives & 40 Thieves:

On November 2, 2018, we will see the return of Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots. Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives & 40 Thieves is an upcoming American computer-animated fantasy comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation.


Puss in Boots travels to a temple to defeat the notorious bandit El Breato and his 40 thieves.
