This Republic Day, kids’ channels in India are lining up a list of shows for kids to enjoy on a rare Monday holiday. While elders gloat over US president Barack Obama’s visit to India, the kids will be treated to a special line up of shows on their favourite channels.
Most channels are showcasing their prime properties at various times of the day. Nick, which recently announced more Motu Patlu movies in production, will be premiering its first for 2015. Motu Patlu and Khazane Ki Race will air at 10:15 am. Discovery Kids will be showing a special episode of its mega series Kisna in Kisna’s Sthapna Divas.
Turner Broadcasting’s flagship channel Cartoon Network will be indulging in some marathon episodes of the fourth season of Oggy and the Cockroaches starting from 12:00 pm followed by Roll No 21, this will be followed by a marathon run of kids’ all time favourite Tom & Jerry. On the other side, its other channel Pogo will be in the limelight for a new series it announced recently. One of Bollywood’s biggest blockbuster movies Sholay has been recreated in the form of an animated tele-feature and will be airing at 12:00 pm.
The Sun Network’s channels seem to be taking the most interest for Republic Day! Telugu kids channel Kushi TV will have a shown where the anchor will take to the road and test the public’s knowledge about 26 January and assert the patriotic feeling among kids. The second show will see how keen the public is on the ‘Swacch Bharat’ campaign and if they say yes, they will be made to perform it for the camera.
Kannada channel Chintu TV will have its theme and colour aligned to the patriotic and festive mood. Viewers will be able to see flag hoisting and parades that will be programmed in the form of graphics, scrolls and the channel theme. Malayali viewers will see a special cultural programme conducted by the differently abled kids from Snehanilayam Special School in Chembumukku, Kakkanad that will be telecast at 5:30 pm on Kochu TV. This apart there will be a vox-pop session as well that will be aired throughout the day. 11:00 am will see the airing of a special movie White Snake Revenge.
The main Tamil channel Chutti TV will also have its theme tuned to capture the patriotic feel of the day in the form of republic day scrolls and graphic animations. A special republic day song composed and performed by a student group will play all day long.
