Square Enix announces sequel of Dragon Quest Builders

Japanese video game developer, publisher and distribution company Square Enix that is best known for its role-playing video game franchises has announced a new follow up of last year’s Dragon Quest Builders.

Titled Dragon Quest Builders 2, the sequel will be released on PS4 and Nintendo Switch at an unspecified time.

The game will add multiplayer (up to 4 players), gliding and underwater exploration to the building fun of the first game. The game’s world has been increased and it can stack three-fold as many blocks, both high and low. You’ll also be able to create waterfalls and create ponds in high places.

The first game took place in the world of the original Dragon Quest but Square Enix has hinted that Dragon Quest Builders 2 might take place in the sequel’s world.

The company has hinted that the words ‘fellow travellers’ and ‘young Malroth’ will be important. Malroth also known as Sidoh was the final villain in Dragon Quest II.

The first Dragon Quest Builders launched on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in January 2016. The latter two versions were released internationally last October.

Square Enix has reported that sales have topped 1.1 million units worldwide.

That wasn’t the only Dragon Quest fun Square Enix had to share, though. The company confirmed their Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest board game mash up, Itadaki Street will launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on October 19th in Japan.
