Hearst acquires 25% stakes worth $81-million in DWA’s AwesomenessTV

Hearst Corporation has acquired a 25 percent interest in DreamWorks Animation's AwesomenessTV in a move to grow the multi-platform media company. The two companies previously partnered in October 2013 for a joint venture that saw the creation of a standalone Seventeen-branded YouTube channel and multichannel network. Twenty-five percent ownership of the global teen community will cost Hearst $81.25 million. (more…)

AwesomenessTV Store Opens in LA

DreamWorks Animation's YouTube network AwesomenessTV opened its first pop-up shop Saturday, featuring a range of products inspired by its digital celebrities. The shop, called Scene@Awesomeness, is located in Los Angeles, Calif., and includes a DJ booth, lounge area and special sections throughout featuring different network creators. The physical store will remain open through Dec. 31 and will eventually also have an e-commerce counterpart. (more…)
