The Boomerang streaming services has welcomed the New Year with a couple of exciting new additions to its cartoon-focused library like  the Hanna Barbera toon A Pup Named Scooby-Doo! and the first 26 episodes of the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs animated series. Though not exactly new, these two shows are very successful and will fit in well with the rest of Boomerang’s strong cartoon lineup. CAKE sells TeamTO’s upcoming toon Take it Easy Mike to Boomerang channels

London-based distributor CAKE has sold TeamTO’s upcoming toon Take it Easy Mike to Turner’s global Boomerang channels that will bow the non-dialogue series in late 2018. In addition to Boomerang (which is readying for a launch in Japan), Turner Kids will air the series on Cartoon Network, Boing and POGO in select markets. Turner EMEA says the acquisition is a part of its ongoing strategy to invest in European-produced content. In fact, Turner has already boosted its investments in European content by 30 per cent this year. Using photo-realistic visuals, the 78 x seven-minute series follows a pug that wants to woo the neighbor’s dog, but his plans never seem to work out. In a first that a Boomerang brand will be available in Japan, Turner Japan has decided to launch three new channels on dTV Channel, the streaming service from NTT DOCOMO, Inc. in January 2018. This venture marks the introduction of two brand new services: MONDO Mah-jong TV and Tabi Tele. They join Turner’s portfolio of channels already available in Japan namely Cartoon Network, MONDO TV, TABI Channel and CNN International. Boomerang acquires US domestic video streaming rights of animated series

Boomerang, the premium video streaming subscription service has acquired US domestic rights of a brand new series of animated stories based on Kenneth Grahame’s classic book titled The Wind in the Willows from UK distributor Hoho Rights. The series of 52 eleven-minute episodes is being created and produced by veteran UK producer Martin Gates who had earlier produced the earlier half hour specials. Hoho’s Oliver Ellis is serving as one of the executive producers and Hoho Rights, who will be in the UK Village Pavilion at MIPCOM distributing the series internationally. One Animation’s Oddbods debuts on Netflix

One Animation’s animated TV series Oddbobs has been released on Netflix in North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The long-form toon follows seven colorful characters as they play pranks on one another. The SVOD deal comes after a one and five-minute shorts of Oddbods garnered nearly two billion views across social media. The series’ long-form version was sold last year to broadcasters including Boomerang, Disney channels in Asia, Canal Plus in France and Africa, ITV in the UK and Boing in Italy. This past fall, ITV also signed on licensees for Oddbods with help from UK master toy partner Golden Bear. The show’s second season will also be streamed on Netflix later this summer.
