Turner brings a taste of POGO to Thailand

Daily branded-block is brand’s first extension beyond India Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific has partnered with Thai free-to-air broadcaster Channel 3 to host a daily two-hour programming block of POGO-branded content from March 30. The block offers a mix of animated and live-action original content from POGO, one of the most popular kids’ channels in India that Turner launched in 2004. The block will air in Thai on the Family Channel 13 from 4-6pm on weekdays and 7-9am on weekends. Its programming includes first-run and exclusive content with live-action shows such as M.A.D. (which stands for Music, Art and Dance) and F.A.Q. (a science show for inquisitive youngsters), and Chhota Bheem, one of India's biggest ever animated homegrown franchises.  (more…)

Garfield Gets More Apparel Partners

Paws, Inc. has signed a range of new apparel licensees in the U.S., Brazil, Australia, Canada, the Middle East and France for Garfield. The Classics and Fright Rags have joined the character's apparel program in the U.S. with Classics focusing on tops and bottoms and Fright Rags featuring a horror-inspired version of the feisty feline. The two new additions join ODM, which has a line of men’s and boys’ tees currently at Walmart, and Paws, Inc. is looking to add more apparel partners to the U.S. roster. (more…)

Boomerang returns to Asia in a New Avataar

The popular children's network will debut its refreshed look across the territory from January 1st, 2015. Global kids brand and companion channel to Cartoon Network, Boomerang is relaunching across several markets in Asia. From January 1st, 2015, the network will offer exclusive original content for the first time, including new episodes of favourites from Warner Bros. Studios such as Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes and Scooby Doo. (more…)

Michael Ouweleen promoted to CMO of Cartoon Network

Michael Ouweleen is taking the top marketing spot at Turner Broadcasting’s Cartoon Network as Chief Marketing Officer of the animation station, as well as its Adult Swim and Boomerang brands. Based in Atlanta, Ouweleen will report directly to new president and GM Christina Miller. As CMO, he will provide the overall creative direction and strategy for all areas of marketing, on-air, trade and sponsorship partnerships that support the three broadcast brands, including digital, gaming, ad sales and consumer products. Cartoon Network taps Christina Miller as new President and GM

Turner Broadcasting has named Christina Miller as its new president and general manager of Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang. Miller will head up the three networks, along with their digital brand extensions. She replaces Stuart Snyder, Turner’s former president and COO of Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media, who exited the company at the end of March.
