Entertainment One (eOne) and Alibaba Pictures announced their first co-production which will mark Peppa Pig’s big screen debut in cinemas throughout China. The beloved pre-school phenomenon will appear in theatres in China for the first time this Chinese New Year, which coincides with the 2019 Year of the Pig. eOne and Alibaba Pictures are co-producing a full-length feature film which contains live action and brand new animated content, based on the Peppa Pig television series created by Astley Baker Davies. "The Peppa Pig series emphasizes the importance of family values, and that is something that will deeply resonate with Chinese audiences. We hope this family film will pave the way for further development of films for young audiences in China," said Wei Zhang, president of Alibaba

        Putting together Chinese heritage with British humour, China’s Magic Mall, Beijing and Cardiff-based Cloth Cat are making their new 52 x 11-minute series Luo Bao Bei in an animated preschool series. The upcoming series is based on a little girl character created by Magic Mall general manager Grace Tian in 2008. Since then, LBB, as she’s known, has become popular as a Beijing city spokesperson and road safety icon involved in community outreach programs. Currently under production, Luo Bao Bei is set to make its Mandarin debut in China this spring before rolling out internationally in English. Mattel and the Alibaba Group have inked a new strategic partnership that will aim to “re-shape the way parents in China think about play.” Under the terms of the agreement, Alibaba will help Mattel meet the growing and changing needs of Chinese consumers with an omni-channel approach spanning online-to-offline. TeamTO makes a distribution agreement with Taikong Works for Yellowbird Leading European CGI studio TeamTO announced distribution agreement with Taikong Works for all rights to its theatrical feature film Yellowbird in China. The maverick deal is the first to come from TeamTO’s Beijing office established in June 2016.
