Gandhi Jayanti: Karnataka to offer free comics in English and Kannada

To mark the 150th birth anniversary of our ‘Bapuji’ Mahatma Gandhi, the Karnataka state government is organizing cultural and educational programmes centered on the iconic figure today (October 2).  As a part of this programme, they will be offering free comics on the ‘Father of the nation’, reported by Economic Times. The government has planned a series of events around Gandhi for the next two years under different themes. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will open the celebrations at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The Information Department has brought out books on Gandhi in English and Kannada with illustrations by artist B.G.Gujjarappa, targeting school children. Marvel has announced that a 12-part limited series titled ‘Dead Man Logan’ to conclude one of the Wolverine’s most iconic stories. Ed Brisson will be writing the series, along with artist Mike Henderson. Declan Shalvey, the writer of Old Man Logan vs. Deadpool, will be doing the cover art. Developed by Dabel Brothers Publishing, the first issue of the new title – starring the graphic novel likeness of Rowan Atkinson’s Mr Bean – is scheduled to hit shelves in spring 2017.
