Canada-based studio Big Bad Boo Studios will produce the second season of its mini-series Lili & Lola with five x seven-minute new episodes heading to multiple platforms that will include the studio’s bilingual VOD platform Oznoz. The pre-school mini-series follows two sisters living in a small apartment in a big city. Created by Shabnam Rezaei and Aly Jetha of Big Bad Boo it originally debuted in 2015 on Oznoz. The first season also currently airs on Shaw Multicultural Canada, ICI Television Montreal and TenTV in both English and Persian. Toronto-based producer and distributor Portfolio Entertainment has signed a number of agreements that will see a number of animated and live-action series launch in the US, the Middle East and North Africa, and Ukraine. Firstly,US-based Starz has picked up both seasons of CBeebies docu-series Do You Know? Hosted by YouTube tech vlogger Maddie Moate, the live-action series will air on the channel on-demand and online platforms. Canadian television production and distribution company Portfolio Entertainment has declared that it would go in for international sales of its highly-acclaimed children’s animated series The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That! This it said would be offered to new and existing partners around the globe. In this connection, new broadcast partners Ultra Kids (Yugoslavia) and Sony Pictures Television Networks (UK and Africa) have picked up the first two seasons of the series. Wissper opens to a strong launch in Iberia

Thanks to its successful broadcast on Clan TV and the initial licensing agreements for Spain and Portugal signed by Planeta Junior, the new animated pre-school series Wissper has opened to a strong launch in the Iberian market. The series premiered on Clan TV in Spain on 8 May and has achieved good audience ratings. It tripled the average channel audience in its first weekend, and all broadcasts from Monday to Sunday have achieved above‐average ratings, with very high peaks at weekends. This demonstrates the series' great engagement with young audiences. In Portugal, the series has aired on RTP since February and will launch on Canal Panda in June. Discovery Kids acquires Cleo & Cuquin for Latin America

Discovery Kids has acquired broadcasting rights of the upcoming animated preschool seriesCleo& Cuquin for Latin America. Spanish children’s channel Clan TV has also acquired the same. The around  one minute cartoon from Spain’s Ánima Kitchent and Mexican free-to-air broadcaster Televisa is expected to release this fall. Aimed at children between 4 to 5 year olds, the serial is based on the classic cartoon Familia Telerin that was made way back in the 1970s by José Luis and Santiago Moro. The show follows Cuquin and his big sister Cleo as he gets into trouble and she gets him out of it. On the licensing front, Mattel has already been named global master toy partner for the brand. Discovery Kids redoubles development efforts; announces new projects

Presently celebrating its 20th anniversary and also its pan-regional position as a leading pre-school net between children from 4 to 11, Discovery Kids has redoubled its development efforts announcing new projects with the likes of Little Airplane Productions and Oscar-nominated Brazilian filmmaker Alê Abreu. In a multi-title development deal with New York-based Little Airplane, the network is currently working with multiple Emmy winner Josh Selig  on Dog and Pony Show (working title). Discovery Kids India acquires Studio 100’s hit series Nils Holgersson

Fresh off from buying a majority stake in Germany’s m4e, Belgium-based Studio 100 has sold its CGI animated series Nils Holgersson to Discovery Kids India. Discovery has picked up exclusive TV rights to the 52 x 13-minute toon for India, Bangaldesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Currently in production, the show is based on the book The Wonderful Adventures of Nils by Selma Lagerlof, the first female writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. Discovery Kids is also home to Studio 100′s most well-known production, Maya the Bee.
