It’s become a sort of norm in Hollywood that within a week of announcing a sequel to the original movie, the makers announce the date and the year of release. Following the makers of Angry Birds 2, Universal and DWA have announced that The Boss Baby 2 will hit theatres on March 26, 2021. If that is not all, another good news is that  Alec Baldwin is reuniting with DreamWorks Animation for the film. The Boss Baby about a power-obsessed infant voiced by Baldwin went on to be a sleeper hit at the global box office earning $468.4 million to date. The film, that opened in theaters on March 21 this year coincided with Baldwin's standout ongoing impersonation of President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live. DreamWorks Animation Shows $54.8 Million Loss for March Ending

Despite posting higher revenues for its first quarter, and marking growth in its Feature Film segment, DreamWorks Animation posted a $54.8 million loss for the period ended March 31, 2015, the company reported on Thursday. Overall, the Jeffrey Katzenberg-led studio experienced a 13 percent rise in revenues to $166.5 million, exceeding analyst expectations. Investors weren't satisfied with the financial results, however, and DWA shares sank eight percent during the after-hours session after closing the day down two percent to $26.06. (more…)

DreamWorks Animation cue’s another round of Layoffs

Layoffs are coming to DreamWorks Animation, according to a report by Variety. Earlier this month DWA Chief Creative Officer Bill Damaschke stepped down from his post as veteran producers Bonnie Arnold and Mireille Soria were named co-presidents of the struggling animation studio. Anywhere from 150 to 400 DWA employees will be getting pink-slipped in the coming months at the company’s Glendale and Redwood City, CA locations, with animators, storyboard artists and other production personnel reportedly the most likely to be affected. DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Dragon 2’ Wins Golden Globe Award

CG-animated sequel written and directed by Dean DeBlois bests Disney’s ‘Big Hero 6,’ Reel FX’s ‘Book of Life,’ LAIKA’s ‘The Boxtrolls’ and Warner Bros.’ ‘The LEGO Movie.’ On Sunday night, DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2 won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature. Written and directed by Dean DeBlois, the CG-animated sequel bested Disney’s Big Hero 6, Reel FX’s Book of Life, LAIKA’s The Boxtrolls and Warner Bros.’ The LEGO Movie for the honor. (more…)

DreamWorks Animation Reports Third Quarter Earnings up by 17 percent

DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. today announced financial results for its third quarter ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the Company reported total revenue of $180.9 million and net income attributable to the Company of $11.9 million, or $0.14 per diluted share. This compares to revenue of $154.5 million and net income attributable to the Company of $10.1 million, or $0.12 per diluted share in the third quarter of 2013. (more…)
