Star Wars characters to come together in a micro series soon

The most beloved and inspirational characters of Star Wars will be part of the cast of Forces of Destiny, a new animated micro-series. Produced by Disney and Lucasfilm, the series will launch on Disney’s YouTube channel this July. Daisy Ridley (Rey), Felicity Jones (Jyn Erso), Tiya Sircar (Sabine Wren), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), and Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata, narrating the series) will all reprise their roles in the show. The two to three minutes animated shorts will explore all-new adventures of the fan-favourites. A two-part TV special featuring eight additional shorts will follow on Disney Channel in fall 2017. Travis Knight to direct Transformers spinoff Bumblebee

  Paramount Pictures has tapped Travis Knight to direct its live-action Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, so goes a report. It was only last year when Knight made his directorial debut last year with the twice-Oscar-nominated epic animated feature Kubo and the Two Strings that employed stop-motion and CG animation to dazzling effect. Hasbro readies My Little Pony Merch for Toy Fair reveal

Hasbro is set to unveil two new My Little Pony toys inspired by the upcoming movie. In addition to the reveal of the My Magical Princess Twilight Sparkle interactive figure and Canterlot & Seaquestria Castle Playset, voice stars Kristin Chenoweth and Sia are revealing the figures for their characters, Skystar and Songbird Serenade, on social media. Hasbro and Kabam have teamed up for make another Transformers game for mobile devices called Transformers: Forged to Fight. This particular game meshes a few genres into one title, with RPG mechanics being present and meshed with one-on-one fights and character collecting. The Toy Industry Association has named its 100 finalists for the 2017 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards. The finalists were selected from 700 nominees submitted by more than 250 companies. Twenty-five judges—including toy experts, retailers, academics and journalists—made the selections across 14 categories. (New genres this year include Action Figure of the Year, Doll of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Vehicle of the Year.) Mattel and Spin Master lead the nominations with eight and seven nods, respectively. Mattel is a finalist in the Action Figure of the Year, Active/Outdoor Toy of the Year, Game of the Year, Innovative Toy of the Year, Specialty of the Year and Vehicle of the Year categories. Disney has unveiled its first line up of consumer products based on its upcoming animated movie Moana. The studio has detailed a collection of toy lines from the likes of Hasbro, Jakks Pacific and Posh Paws, as well as published titles and puzzles. Hasbro leads the charge with the Musical Moana of Oceania, while Jakks Pacific introduces Moana’s Magical Necklace. Posh Paws adds to the lineup with its line of Kakamora Soft Toys, while Parragon Books and Ravensburger complete the initial roll out with the Moana Movie Collection Storybook and a line of puzzles.
