The Mickey Mouse Club, which aired constantly between 1955 and 1996 and helped generate the careers of Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling, is being reinvented for today’s digital-and social-first audience. Currently in production in multiple locations across L.A., Club Mickey Mouse is produced by newly launched Disney Digital Network. It will premiere in August as a Facebook- and Instagram-exclusive series via the Oh My Disney brand. First announced at Disney’s NewFronts in May, the series will feature a cast of eight authentic, on-the-rise influencers and digital-first creators who happen to also have strong singing, dancing and acting abilities. In addition, the cast will be joined by a pair of yet-to-be-announced DDN influencers according to Disney Consumer Products
Nickelodeon is gearing up to premiere its newest animated mystery series Welcome to the Wayne on July 24. Created and written by Billy Lopez and executively produced by creative executive Michael Pecoriello, the 20-episode series follows three kids as they explore their fantastical apartment building aptly named the Wayne. The toon’s voice cast includes Alanna Ubach as Ansi, the anxious new kid in town; Lopez as Olly Timbers, the adventurous 10-year-old son of a toy maker and a military scientist and Dana Steingold as Saraline Timbers, Olly’s responsible and more mature little sister. Before getting the full-length treatment, Welcome to the Wayne was Nickelodeon’s first digital short-form series which debuted in 2014 as six four- to five-minute episodes on the Nick App and Nick.com.
With YouTube videos and Instagram posts ushering in a whole new trend of homemade slime-making, Nickelodeon is bringing its iconic goop to the DIY crowd. In relation to this, New Jersey-based toy and art products manufacturer Cra-Z-Art has partnered with Nickelodeon to market and distribute branded slime kits across the US. The kits will include all of the necessary ingredients to make the network’s famous green slime as well as a variety of colors and textures including glitter, neon and glow in the dark. The kits will be seen on US retail shelves this month.
