MOVA Contour Reality Capture, the inventors of the Oscar-winning motion picture technology is in the process to suing Disney and Marvel and accuse them of infringing the inventors’ intellectual property while using stolen technology to make at least two of their highest grossing motion pictures to date namely Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Beauty and the Beast (2017). The intellectual property lawsuit that was filed on July 17 alleges that the defendants knew that the proprietary technology they used was owned by Rearden LLC and Rearden Mova LLC, the plaintiffs in the action and that the company supplying the technology to Disney and Marvel had stolen it from a secured storage facility. Yesterday, Marvel Animation took to the stage at D23 Expo to make key announcements of two super-powered series that revealed the premiere date and voice cast for Marvel’s Spider-Man, announcing a third season for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout and naming the next LEGO Marvel Super Heroes special. Marvel and Netflix have announced big TV and film related plans for this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Just two days ago, two Netflix original films namely David Ayer’s Bright and Adam Wingard’s Death Note will be talked about in a panel. On the same day, Marvel will hold panels for both Legion and Inhumans. On Friday, FOX’s The Gifted and the much anticipated The Defenders series will get panels. Today there ill be a panel for the second season Netflix’s pop culture phenom Stranger Things. One notable absentee  will be Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.

After making five of ‘Marvel’s One-Shot’ short films  between 2011 and 2014, Marvel seemingly abandoned its ‘Marvel’s One-Shot’ short films which were included in the Blu-ray releases of some MCU films. This comes after the company recently teamed up with another Disney-owned company Pixar on a Cars 3-based Lightning McQueen robot named Boulder. Last year, Marvel announced that Oscar-winning Brie Larson  would play the leading man in their upcoming superhero film Captain Marvel. Ever since the studio has been searching for the person to direct the film. Just yesterday, the studio announced that they had found not one but two to direct the film- Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Most recently the duo had written and directed Mississippi Grind that starred Ryan Reynolds and Ben Mendelsohn. The two also directed and wrote It’s Kind of a Funny Story that starred Emma Roberts and Zach Galifianakis and worked together on the critically-acclaimed Half Nelson that had Ryan Gosling. In a deal with Sony, it has been decided that Spider-Man will be a part of the next two Avengers movies, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Spider-Man will appear in the Avengers: Infinity War that is slated for 4 May, next year and an untitled Avengers movie in  2019. The deal with Sony will allowed the wall-crawler to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his debut in Captain America: Civil War and his stanalone film Spider-Man: Homecoming that is set to release this year. After his appearance in the second Avengers movie, Spider-Man will be seen again in the Homecoming sequel, also set for 2019 release.   Disney XD is gearing up to telecast the second season of Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy that is going to premiere on March 11. Its first season debuted in 2015. Season two will follow Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot as they fight to protect Earth from an alien mad scientist called The High Evolutionary. The two-episode premiere will also see the Guardians crossing paths with the Avengers. The first two episodes will be available on VOD and the Disney XD app for mobile devices and connected TVs.
