In anticipation of the toon’s August premiere on Nickelodeon in the US and on YTV in Canada, Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana is bringing its original animated action series Mysticons online. The series’ online push is part of a larger social and digital media content strategy involving more than 80 pieces of original short-form content. For example, live-action content and DIY videos for character costumes will be made available throughout the show’s first season. An adventure role-playing app-based game will also bow this fall, along with a number of web games. Nickelodeon has launched SpongeBob SquarePants: You Bring The Color, a creative new cross-platform campaign where kids can help color all-new SpongeBob episodes. This follows today’s young fans continuing to demand more interactive, hands-on experiences with their favourite brands. From July and August, fans can visit the campaign’s website to digitally color SpongeBob for the show’s iconic opening sequence. Selected fan creations will then make their appearance on Nickelodeon this fall during a themed week of new episodes. With a new stop-motion special SpongeBob SquarePants: The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom, Nickelodeon is getting its longest-running kids series into the Halloween spirit. Due to start telecasting in October, the special follows the Flying Dutchman (voiced by Brian Doyle Murrary), who is trying to scare everyone in town, especially SpongeBob. It is produced by L.A.-based stop-motion animation production company, Screen Novelties, which animated 2012′s SpongeBob SquarePants: It’s a SpongeBob Christmas! Nickelodeon is gearing up to premiere its newest animated mystery series Welcome to the Wayne on July 24. Created and written by Billy Lopez and executively produced by creative executive Michael Pecoriello, the 20-episode series follows three kids as they explore their fantastical apartment building aptly named the Wayne.
