PlayStation’s iconic thievius raccoonus alias Sly Cooper is coming back to the small screen in a animated series, the distribution of which will be handled by PGS while Technicolor Animation Production will create the series. Unfortunately, there aren’t more details on the project and no release details is in hand though network and format has been shared. Sony, however, did share a brief story synopsis: Sly Cooper follows the adventures of an irresistibly charismatic raccoon, a modern-day Robin Hood, who restores justice to his city one theft at a time. Sly is aided by two of his best friends, a muscular hippo named Murray and a brainy turtle named Bentley. Nickelodeon is gearing up to premiere its newest animated mystery series Welcome to the Wayne on July 24. Created and written by Billy Lopez and executively produced by creative executive Michael Pecoriello, the 20-episode series follows three kids as they explore their fantastical apartment building aptly named the Wayne. The toon’s voice cast includes Alanna Ubach as Ansi, the anxious new kid in town; Lopez as Olly Timbers, the adventurous 10-year-old son of a toy maker and a military scientist and Dana Steingold as Saraline Timbers, Olly’s responsible and more mature little sister. Before getting the full-length treatment, Welcome to the Wayne was Nickelodeon’s first digital short-form series which debuted in 2014 as six four- to five-minute episodes on the Nick App and Nick.com.
Production company Not To Scale has signed its roster multidisciplinary director Drew Lightfoot to represent it in the US, UK and Europe. The award-winning Canadian helmer, craftsman and animator has earlier worked on projects ranging from commercials and music videos to TV shows and feature films. “Drew is a great addition to the Not To Scale family. His strong live-action work supported by an animation background makes him an amazing asset for any project,” observed Eve Strickman, EP at Not To Scale, New York. “He can tackle projects from so many different angles, and is always a pleasure to work with.
