Italian production company Rainbow that was behind the making of Winx Club and Maggie & Bianca: Fashion Friends is soon going to launch a brand-new CGI pre-school animated show titled 44 Cats. The announcement comes less than a week after Rainbow entered into a licensing deal with Disney Channel GSA for its first live-action production Maggie & Bianca: Fashion Friends. The 52 and odd minutes series is about a group of felines that act like humans when no one is around. The name 44 Cats comes from a popular Italian song that first made its first TV foray in a singing competition series Zecchino d’oro in 1968.
Disney Channel GSA has acquired Italian production company Rainbow’s first live-action production Maggie & Bianca: Fashion Friends. The tween-targeted series will air in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on Disney Channel. The series follows an American girl who dreams of becoming a world-famous fashion designer and her friend Bianca, a self-proclaimed Italian princess. It debuted last August in Italy on RAI Gulp and has since been picked up by Netflix globally as well as Gulli (France), Karousel (Russia) and TV Cultura (Brazil). The show is also getting into licensing. Simba Dickie is on-board as pan-European master toy partner and will be producing a Maggie & Bianca toy range for Europ. A book series is also in the works from Italian publisher Mondadori Libri.

Leading European studio Rainbow has announced the latest licensing deal for brand new animated comedy Regal Academy, with Giochi Preziosi signing up as pan-European master toy licensee. Giochi Preziosi is one of Europe’s leading toy manufacturers, with a strong presence across the continent. The new Regal Academy range will include fashion dolls and accessories, play sets and role play. Dolls are set to hit the market first, in the run up to Christmas 2016, which fits in with the projected launch of Regal Academy in autumn 2016. In addition in Italy Giochi Preziosi Group will represent the new property also for back to school, confectionary and footwear. (more…)
