Splash Entertainment acquires audio-visual rights of Jing-Ju Cats

Splash Entertainment has acquired the audio-visual rights of the award-winning Chinese animated series Jing-Ju Cats for all regions outside of Asia and Africa. The series is notable for being one of the first Chinese cartoons to blend the principles of kung-fu and Beijing opera. Jing-Ju Cats consists of 80 x 13 minute episodes and first debuted in China via Toonmax before being broadcast on various channels throughout the region and breaking various ratings records in the region. Having made its debut at the Licensing Expo earlier this year, Dazzling Star’s award-winning animated series Jing-Ju Cats also known as Beijing Opera Cats will be heading to MIP Junior and MIPCOM for the first time with Splash Entertainment. Splash Entertainment’s video-on-demand service Kabillion has launched a Spanish channel on Roku players. The new streaming service would offer both educational and entertaining content in the Spanish language. Some of the shows in line for broadcast include Dive Olly Dive, The DaVincibles and ToddWorld. Kabillion en Español is now available to download in the United States and Mexico too. “Reaching the large Hispanic community in the US is the next phase for us as we look to increase our audience,” said David Di Lorenzo, the president of the service. “Now with Kabillion en Español on the Roku platform, the premiere streaming service for TV, we are able to extend our reach and offer our great selection of children’s programming to a new viewing audience,” he added. As it continues its kids programming drive, Netflix has ordered four new toons to join its growing lineup of global Netflix Originals, including Saban Brands and Cirque du Soleil Média’s Luna Petunia (pictured). It’s also acquired an additional three animated series for various territories. The first 11-ep season of preschool series Cirque de Soleil - Luna Petunia, which Kidscreen provided a first-look at in February, will premiere worldwide as an exclusive original on the SVOD giant in fall 2016. Chloe’s Closet heads to Piwi+

L.A.-based content production house Splash Entertainment has sewn up a licensing deal with French preschool channel Piwi+ for its hit animated preschool series Chloe’s Closet. Piwi+, part of the Canal+ family, picked up seasons one and two of the animated program for a total of 104 x 11-minute episodes. To date, Chloe’s Closet has been sold to more than 80 broadcasters worldwide, including Channel 5 (UK), TVE (Spain) and KiKA (Germany). (more…)
