The 69th annual Emmy Awards would be presented on 17th September by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Besides that of the main categories, the nominations for the animation category has also been declared. In the  category, four of the five recognized shows that were also nominated in 2015 and 2016 are Archer, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons and South Park. The only new contender in the category is the special Sofia the First episode “Elena and the Secret of Avalor.” With two first-time nominees, the short-form animated category offers a few more surprises this year like Warner Bros. Toronto-based producer and distributor Portfolio Entertainment has signed a number of agreements that will see a number of animated and live-action series launch in the US, the Middle East and North Africa, and Ukraine. Firstly,US-based Starz has picked up both seasons of CBeebies docu-series Do You Know? Hosted by YouTube tech vlogger Maddie Moate, the live-action series will air on the channel on-demand and online platforms. US premium cable and satellite network Starz is set to grow its library for kids consisting of its popular new app service and OTT offering. Further, this will swell to more than 2,000 television series episodes and movies for download or streaming by the end of 2017. PFT completes acquisition of DAX

  Prime Focus Technologies (PFT), the technology subsidiary of Prime Focus has completed the acquisition of DAX, a leading provider of cloud-based production workflow and media asset management applications to the entertainment industry. In a uniquely structured performance linked transaction, PFT had announced a definitive agreement to acquire DAX for a base consideration of US$ 9.1 million on March 11th.   Through its US subsidiary PFT will acquire all the assets of DAX for an upfront payment with balance payable over 3 years primarily from cash flows from the North American operations.   This acquisition gives PFT ownership of DAX’s patented technology (US Patent No: 7,660,416/ 8,218,764) and products including the Primetime Emmy® award winning Digital Dailies® so
