Curtains of Gamescom 2017 came down in Cologne on Thursday night with the presentation of this year’s awards. Sweeping the awards was the Nintendo Switch title Super Mario Odyssey which lapped up the coveted Best of Gamescom Award, the consumer-voted Most Wanted Award and three of the juried categories. Also among the winners were multiple nominees Destiny 2 from Activision Blizzard with two wins, Assassin’s Creed (Ubisoft), Middle-earth: Shadows of War (Warner Bros. Interactive), Ni No Kuni II (Bandai Namco). Nominations for animago awards announced

The animago conference will be held on September 7 and 8 this year. This is the time when the animago awards would be handed out. Now, the news is that the names of nominees have been announced. For this, an independent jury of experts sifted through nearly 1,000 submissions from 58 countries to come out with the final 33 nominees for the animago’s eleven categories. The awards ceremony will be held on September 7 at Munich Gasteig Cultural Centre. Ubisoft launches new toys-to-life game

Videogame developer Ubisoft has entered into the field of the toys-to-life and unveiled its new concept Starlink: Battle for Atlas at this year’s E3. The firm now joins the likes of LEGO Dimensions, Amiibo, Skylanders and the recently revealed Lightseekers title from the toy specialist Tomy. The launch was announced at this year’s E3 in L.A. and is expected to land in autumn next year, and will be available on Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. The move comes as a real stake in the ground for Ubisoft’s place in the toys-to-life market, one that was kickstarted in 2013 with the launch of Activision’s Skylanders. Rainbow Productions has held onto its crown as champions of The Light Fund 2015 Treasure Hunt for the second year running. The event – which took place last Thursday evening (July 16th) - managed to raise over £8,000 for the industry charity. Rainbow Productions managed to stave off tough competition from Blueprint, Spearmakr and Kinnerton’s Gooners Never Say Die and Penguin Ventures, to clinch the top spot in a quest to follow a route around London’s Mayfair.
