Russian CG-animated TV series Masha and the Bear has already established its popularity in its native land, and now Denmark-based Ink Brands has announced that Egmont will expand its publishing program across Europe. The adventures of Masha and her reluctant bear playmate will be introduced to the UK, Germany, Scandinavia, Turkey, CIS territories, as well Central and Eastern Europe. The product line will include story books, coloring books and a Masha and the Bear magazine. The brand already has more than 100 partners in the Russian market for products ranging from confectionery to home decor. (more…)

A delegation of Canadian producers is currently in the UK exploring the possibilities for more international co-productions. The capitals British film commission Film London, with support of the Mayor of London, welcomed the producers this week in a bid to bring more international productions to London on the back of the tax reliefs for high-end television and animation announced in early 2013.The trip was organised in partnership with Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC). Sky Deutschland has announced that it will collaborate with fellow broadcasters Sky Italia and BSkyB to bring the famous Italian comic series Diabolik to television in their respective areas. Created by sisters Angela and Luciana Giussani in 1962, Diabolik is no ordinary superhero. He is a dangerous, ruthless master thief, who uses his expert skills in identity theft to literally take on the look and personality of his targets and adversaries to get what he wants. The Diabolik series has gone on to produce more than 800 issues in 50 years and still sells 400,000 copies today. (more…)
