We all love superheroes, isn’t it? Superheroes are everywhere nowadays. From TV to the big screen, they no longer belong to the comic book world.

With female superheroes taking center stage in pop culture, take a look at some of the most powerful, coolest superheroines of all time.

Captain Marvel:

Dubbed as the mightiest Avenger, Captain Marvel is the focus of 2019’s highly anticipated Marvel’s untitled ‘Avengers 4’ movie.

Her superpowers include superhuman strength, speed, and durability, energy projection and absorption flight.

Captain Marvel is a female character and was Marvel’s first female key character. The female superhero is a human/Kree hybrid, with Kree natives being scientifically and technologically advanced and from the planet Hala.

Supergirl:

Supergirl may have started out as a spin-off character from Superman, but for many fans, she represents a certain element of femininity that is often glossed over in fiction.

Recently, media reports suggest Warner Bros. and DC Films are developing a movie based on Kara Zor-El, better known as Supergirl, the powerful and crime-fighting cousin of Superman.

Like all Kryptonians under a yellow sun, the current version of Kara Zor-El possesses vast superhuman strength, speed, and stamina; invulnerability; flight; super breath; x-ray vision; telescopic and microscopic vision; freeze breath; heat vision; and super hearing.

Batgirl:

Barbara Gordon is unique among female heroes, and superheroes in general, for having not one but two vastly different and very successful superhero careers.

Barbara started out as Batgirl, using her wits, her incredible intelligence, and her physical capabilities to earn Batman’s trust as an ally. However, after years of fighting crime on the streets of Gotham, a violent encounter with the Joker left her paralyzed – but not deterred.

Barbara became the information hub for Batman’s entire network and lead the all-female superhero team the Birds of Prey.

Black Widow:

Black Widow is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by editor and plotter Stan Lee, scripter Don Rico, and artist Don Heck, the character debuted in Tales of Suspense in April 1964.

The character was introduced as a Russian spy, an antagonist of the superhero Iron Man. She later defected to the United States, becoming an agent of the fictional spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D., and a member of the superhero team the Avengers.

Scarlett Johansson portrays the character Black Widow (originally called as Natasha Romanoff) in films as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Black Widow is a world class athlete, gymnast, acrobat, aerialist capable of numerous complex maneuvers and feats, expert martial artist (including karate, judo, Kenpo, jujutsu, ninjutsu, aikido, savate, various styles of kung fu and boxing), marksman and weapons specialist among others.

Scarlet Witch

She’s the second female Avenger, and she brings a fashion aesthetic to the job that Black Widow lacks.

Scarlet Witch is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, first appearing in The X-Men 4 in March 1964 in the Silver Age of Comic Books.

Along with starring in two self-titled limited series of her own, the character appears in animated films, television series, arcade and video games as well as other Marvel-related merchandise. Scarlet Witch has been portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen in a number of films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Wonder Woman:

Wonder Woman’ is a blend of an uplifting and humorous outlook with strong female characters, that does justice to the iconic female superhero.

Wonder Woman or Princess Diana is one of the first costumed females in comics; which she appeared in 1940. Wonder Woman was created by the psychologist William Moulton Marston as a counter-reaction to the early depiction of superhumans in comics, the majority of whom were male.

Her powers include divine strength, speed, reflexes, durability, and longevity, accelerated healing, flight, utilizes lasso of truth, indestructible bracelets, projectile tiara, sword, shield, and an invisible jet.

Cat Woman:

Catwoman is one of the most iconic female characters in the Batman universe. She was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger.

Selina Kyle first started as a thief and an enemy of Batman but has evolved into a complex character who plays both villain and hero, as well as a romantic partner.

Selina is a gifted and accomplished athlete, with heightened acrobatic prowess. Her feats have been so amazing, one could argue that her athletic ability is somewhat superhuman. Stealth: Selina is as stealthy as any large cat.
