For innumerable fans of Channel V, this is sad news. The Indian affiliate of Channel V is set to close down soon. Earlier it was reported that the channel would be discontinued on November 16, 2017.
At this point of time, one’s memories would definitely go back in time the time when music channels like MTV and Channel [V] were the one of the coolest things on TV.
Channel V is the brand name for multiple international music television networks owned by Fox Networks Group fully owned subsidiaries of 21st Century Fox.
Here, it may be remembered that on July 1, 2015, the channel discontinued music programming and started focusing on original content through fiction dailies and studio formats that address youth issues.
How can one forget that the channel served as a platform from personalities like Lola Kutty to Purab Kohli and Anusha Dandekar and for many VJs and emerging singers.
Bringing the indipop culture into the spotlight, the channel’s shows like Hit Machine, Get Gorgeous, Dare to Dare and The Buddy Project struck a chord with viewers.
Soon after the news of the channel closing down started doing the rounds, Twitterites went all out to show their anguish of the closure of the channel.
While one user wrote, “There was a time when music on TV for me, meant only MTV and Channel V. Haven’t watched either in ages. But still a little sad to hear that V is shutting shop. Goodbye Channel V.
Thank you for the memories,” actor Shruthi Seth tweeted on her Twitter handle writing, “End of an era… A farewell party is a must!”
