Good Deed Entertainment has announced the U.S. release date for BreakThru Productions’ stunning animated film Loving Vincent.
The first fully painted biographical film brings Vincent van Gogh’s life to the big screen like never before. Primarily, the film will open in New York City on September 22nd and proceed to Los Angeles where it will be shown on September 29th.
It will later move around regional markets in the US throughout October and November. In Canada, Mongrel Media will start its limited release on October 6th. In the United Kingdom, the film’s run will start on October 13th.
Loving Vincent is the world’s first fully oil painted feature film that has been written and directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, produced by Poland’s BreakThru Films & UK’s Trademark Films.
The film brings the paintings of Vincent van Gogh to life to tell his remarkable story. Each and every of the 65,000 frames of the film is an oil-painting hand-painted by 125 professional oil-painters who travelled from all across the world to the Loving Vincent studios in Poland and Greece to be a part of the production. As remarkable as Vincent’s brilliant paintings, is his passionate and ill-fated life, and mysterious death.
Loving Vincent was produced at a budget of $5.5 million and used a combination of animating techniques, including roto scoping.
While animating the film was the greatest challenge, the film has also struggled with financing. The producers even launched a crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter where they received a smudge under $70,000.
