Spain’s public broadcaster RTVE has picked up the fourth season of Zinkia Entertainment’s hit pre-school series Pocoyo for its kids channel Clan TV.
In a way, the deal makes RTVE the first linear broadcaster to acquire the 26 x seven-minute season of the series. A premiere date for the new season on Clan TV is to be announced shortly.
Pocoyo‘s fourth season originally premiered on YouTube and the YouTube Kidsapp in November last year marking the first-ever digital-exclusive launch for a Spanish show. The season also introduced a new female character Nina to international audiences on March 24.
Since launching in 2005, Pocoyo has become a worldwide hit particularly in Latin America where the brand’s activity continues to heat up. In August, Zinkia named Dogs Can Fly Licensing as the exclusive L&M agent for the series in Brazil.
In other new deals, Amazon will distribute two seasons of Pocoyo plus a range of exclusive Pocoyo content, via the Amazon Video Direct self-publishing service in the US.
The public broadcaster also recently strengthened the brand’s presence in Japan by sewing up a master agent deal with Japanese media and marketing company Aqui Media.
