Sesame Workshop, Nelvana to debut original animated series on August 18

Sesame Workshop and Nelvana announced that Esme & Roy, the first new animated series from the makers of Sesame Street in more than a decade, will debut on August 18 on HBO in the United States and on Treehouse in Canada. The program follows a young girl, Esme, and her best monster friend, Roy, on their adventures as the best monster babysitters in Monsterdale. Aimed at children aged 4-6, it offers a creative new approach to teaching “learning through play” and mindfulness strategies. Across 26 episodes, Esme and Roy will use the power of play to help younger monsters through familiar situations such as trying new foods and feeling scared during loud thunderstorms. Corus earns exclusive programming rights to all Nick content in Canada

Corus Entertainment and Nickelodeon are extending their partnership with a new long-term deal that gives Corus exclusive rights to all Nick content across digital and linear platforms in Canada. Under the new licensing deal, Corus is the sole distributor and rights holder of Nickelodeon’s content catalog in Canada, including current shows like Bubble Guppies (pictured) and library titles. Garfield Gets More Apparel Partners

Paws, Inc. has signed a range of new apparel licensees in the U.S., Brazil, Australia, Canada, the Middle East and France for Garfield. The Classics and Fright Rags have joined the character's apparel program in the U.S. with Classics focusing on tops and bottoms and Fright Rags featuring a horror-inspired version of the feisty feline. The two new additions join ODM, which has a line of men’s and boys’ tees currently at Walmart, and Paws, Inc. is looking to add more apparel partners to the U.S. roster. (more…)
